Hey sis, Last week, I told you that two weeks in Bali couldn’t undo 15+ years of chronic stress. But there was something I experienced on that trip that made me think about how long we wait before allowing ourselves to feel good. We’re really good at asking: Do I need this? And if the answer is no, we often decide that means we shouldn’t have it. But what if need was never supposed to be the threshold? 🎙️ A Note from Nikia on Deserving (click here to listen) There was one part of my trip that gave me hours where I didn’t have to plan, anticipate, manage, or take care of anything. My only responsibility was to receive. And whew…I didn’t realize how unfamiliar that had become. Today’s Takeaway You deserved it before you needed it. You deserved comfort before discomfort became intolerable. Rest before exhaustion became your baseline. Support before overextension became overwhelm. Care before you were depleted enough to finally accept it. We don’t always have to suffer enough to justify making life better for ourselves. And sometimes? “I want this” is reason enough. This Week’s Reflection When was the last time you felt truly taken care of? Not a pedicure while answering emails. Not a massage while mentally running through your to-do list. I mean cared for enough that there was nothing for you to manage, solve, anticipate, or handle. And then ask yourself: What have I been denying myself simply because I don’t need it? Maybe you don’t. But what if you don’t have to? |
