I used to dread coming home from trips—until this…

Hey sis,

I recently spent the weekend celebrating my sorority chapter’s 100th year anniversary.

And it was everything.

Joyful. Full. A little chaotic.

And if I’m being honest… very low on sleep and water 😅

By the time I got back to Vegas, I felt it.

Not just tired… but that specific kind of depletion that comes from pouring into people, celebrating, being “on,” and moving nonstop for a few days straight.

And in that moment, I was so grateful for one decision I made a few years ago:

I don’t go back to work the day after I travel.
I give myself a buffer day.

A day to land.

To unpack slowly.

To drink water like I should have all weekend.

To rest my body.

To come back to my life feeling grounded instead of rushed.

Because if you’ve ever traveled and gone straight back into work the next day… you already know.

Watching the clock.

Hoping your flight isn’t delayed.

Carrying that low-level anxiety that everything needs to go perfectly just to make it back “on time.”

And even when it does… you still feel behind.

This one shift changed that for me.

I feel exponentially less stressed.

Less anxious about travel delays.

More present when I get home.

And honestly… more like myself.

I know we’re not always taught to think this way.

We’re taught to “maximize” our vacation time. To make every moment “count”.

So taking a buffer day can feel like a waste.

But it’s not. It’s an investment.

An investment in how you return to your life.

In how you feel in your body.

In how much peace you carry into your next week.

And for me… the payoff has been worth it every single time.

So here’s what I’ll leave you with:

As we head into a season of travel, celebrations, weddings, and full calendars…

What’s one small decision you could make that would make your life feel lighter when you get back?

And if you already have one—hit reply and tell me.

I have a feeling this might be the first of many small shifts I share with you.
