The kind of rest no one talks about…

Hey Sis,

I just got back from a week that left me full—in the best way.

I celebrated my 40th birthday bicoastally— with a karaoke party and tattoo session in DC and a Pilates party in Vegas.

I laughed. I danced. I moved. I was surrounded by people who love me deeply and freely. And somewhere between the music, the sweat, and the slow mornings, I was reminded of something I often forget: this is rest, too.

We’re taught that rest means silence. Solitude. Saying no and pulling back. And yes, sometimes that’s exactly what we need. But there’s another kind of rest I’m learning to honor—the kind that looks like shared joy, full-body laughter, being held in community.

And truthfully? Isolation is sneaky. It can feel like peace and comfort, but sometimes it’s just avoidance in disguise. And sometimes the energy we crave doesn’t come from being alone—but from being held. Seen. Witnessed. Supported.

I’ve been there—telling myself I just needed space, when what I actually needed was connection. A walk. A phone call. A safe space to be seen. Not everyone gets that… but if you do, you know exactly what I mean.

As you step into this new year, with your goals and intentions and hopes—I hope you’ll remember to leave space for that kind of rest, too. The social kind. The joyful kind. The kind that fills your cup back up without draining your soul.

If you’re craving that kind of connection and want to talk through where you are and what’s next, I’d love to hold space for you. No pressure. Just real talk, woman to woman.
